Programs wont start

I have a couple of programs (games) that will not open. I double click on
the desktop shortcut and nothing happens. These are not newly installed and
other programs I have on my desktop work just fine. I have tried launching
the games from the start menu and from the cd's as well... still nothing. No
error message or anything, it's like the computer doesn't even register that
I tried to start the game.

1. The First Question Of Troubleshooting: what changed between the time
things worked and the time they didn't?

2. Try uninstalling/reinstalling the games.

3. Go to the games' websites and look for patches, updates, workarounds,
known issues, user forums, etc.

4. Since you didn't mention which games, no one can give you specific
advice about them.

Re: Programs wont start

A similar problem in my Vista Business 32-bit:
1. I open a program that... needs to run under Administrator privileges, and
I open, let's say, a file associated with it
2. The name of the said file gets listed under Recent Items
3. Clicking that name does not start the program - no Administrator
confirmation, no nothing.
Cheers

Hi Communikator,

Try doing Method One with the file under Recent Items to associate it
with the program.
